Door County Family Vacay!

We took a family vacation to Door County and stayed in a cute little cabin on Kangaroo Lake near Baileys Harbor for a few days after Joe's Change of Command in September.  We had beautiful summer-like weather and had so much fun together!

We started out with some go-karting which Logan said was his favorite thing to do when we got back home.

A dip in Kangaroo Lake!

Joshua has a thing for putting rocks and dirt in his mouth - luckily I got him to spit them out before they made it any further!

Without TV or internet in our cabin, many nights involved wrestling matches in the living room!

We celebrated Joe's birthday on September 10.  Here he is on his birthday morning opening cards and enjoying some cereal.

Hiking the Eagle Trail in Peninsula State Park.

Sleepy Joshua on the hike.

Snacktime along the lake relaxing on the rocks with a pack of raisins.

Caves along the Eagle Trail.  Logan thought they were very cool.

Logan insisted that he sit on this rock and that I take his picture.  Such a model.

At the end of the hike, everyone was sleepy - and Daddy carried both boys at once for a little while!  Good thing we have such a strong Daddy!

I was not a fan of climbing Eagle Tower (76 feet up) with a 3 year old and a sleepy toddler in a backpack - but Joe insisted.  Here we are when we asked another couple to take a super fast photo to capture the moment.  I was a much happier Mom when we were back on solid ground!

Post hike picnic in Ephraim.  Yum!

Playing in the sand in Whitefish Dunes State Park.  We went to Dunes with the intention of letting the kids just play in the sand thinking that the water would be too chilly.  However, after about 10 minutes in the sand, Logan pants were wet from Lake Michigan and he was soon down to his undies!

What a great afternoon!!

The boys playing at a playground in Sister Bay while we waited for our food at Grasse's Grill in Sister Bay for Joe's birthday dinner.  We got into the habit of ordering food, then one of us would take the kids somewhere nearby while we waited for our order, and then when the food was ready the kids were all set to eat!

Yummy apple crisp for birthday dessert!

Sleepy Joshua on our hike in the Ridges Sanctuary.

While hiking in Ridges, Logan and Joe spotted some tracks.  Deer tracks!

So we followed the tracks...

And found the deer!  Logan thought it was soooo cool!  (And it was a very quiet hike as he knew he had to whisper so we wouldn't scare the deer away!)

Logan and Joe working on their navigation, map reading, and numbers.

While waiting for our pizza for carry out from Wild Tomato (SO yummy), the boys played at the playground at Not Licked Yet (and enjoyed some custard while waiting too).

Back at our private beach at Kangaroo Lake...

The "One Slide Park"
Every time we drove by this playground in Bailey's Harbor, Logan asked to go but we were always on our way coming or going.  Finally after dinner on our last night, we played at sunset at the playground.  Definitely one of the best playgrounds in Door County!

Our cabin for a few days.

Before brunch on our last day of our vacation, Joe took us to Cave Point County Park on Lake Michigan.  Very cool.  We held onto the kids' hands tightly!

Logan wasn't too sure about posing for this picture over the water....can you tell?!

Then, for our brunch we headed to Al Johnson's.  Logan loved the goat on the roof!

Swedish pancakes with strawberries for Logan.

A little bit of everything for Joshua - well, mainly whipped cream.

Swedish pancakes, eggs, and meatballs for Joe.

Potatoes, egg, ham, and toast for Nicolle.

Sleepy boys after a great family vacation!
