August - At Home

I got this new pool at a great end of the summer sale price - the boys are loving splashing around in it on the last hot days of summer!

Out for breakfast for my birthday at Mickie's Dairy Bar.  Not the best food, but at least Joe can say he's finally been there!

Then, after breakfast off to the zoo!  The chicken and the egg!

Joshua was really having fun walking in between the two doors to the carousel.

A few days before my birthday, Joshua took a big fall out of a stroller at daycare (the teacher that allowed that to happen is no longer at the center as a result of this incident as she should have strapped him safely in the stroller).  We took him to pediatric urgent care within about two hours of it happening and they thought he was going to be fine based on the way he was acting and moving. But then, after getting home and putting him down to sleep for the night, he started vomiting, so we were off to the ER.  Luckily Uncle Sean was staying at our house that night so both Joe and I could go to the hospital with Joshua.  At the ER by 9 pm and we didn't get in to see anyone until 10:30 pm at least.  We saw several great doctors who thought Joshua had a concussion but would be just fine.  He was continuing to get sick quite often while we were at the ER though and that concerned the doctors.  They finally gave him some anti-nausea meds and got us in for a CT scan around 1 am.  Josh did so great for the scan because he was really sleepy and we also gave him a nuk which he hadn't had for 3 weeks or so.  He laid so still for the scan and allowed them to take a great image.  The CT scan showed no skull fracture or internal bleeding.  A concussion but nothing worse.  Yeah!  Home by 2 am from the trip to the ER and we also had a follow up with his pediatrician the next day.  Now, two weeks later, his head still has quite the bump on it but the bruise is going away, and his black eye is going away too.  Glad all is well with the little guy now!!

 

Logan and Joe surprised me with a strawberry cheesecake Dairy Queen cake for my birthday!  Yum!
